Police appeal for witnesses to assault of 81-year-old man

Queensland Police are appealing for public assistance to locate a man who may be able to assist with investigations following an assault at Kippa Ring yesterday.

Police say their initial information indicates that at approximately 2.10pm, an 81-year-old man had a brief conversation with another man, not known to him, at a bus stop on Anzac Avenue.

“During the interaction, the elderly man was struck to the head knocking him to the ground,” Queensland Police said in a statement.

“The man then left the scene on foot. Emergency crews arrived and the 81-year-old man was transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.”

The man is described as Caucasian in appearance, aged in his mid to late 20s, and was wearing a black shirt, shorts, hat and sunglasses.

Anyone who knows the man, or who has information about the assault, is urged to contact police.
