Police appeal after carer robbed in Oakford home

Armadale detectives are appealing for the public’s assistance as they investigate a carer being threatened and robbed as he cared for a vulnerable person in an Oakford home on Saturday.

Police say that at around 8.15pm, two men entered the home on Tuart Road, confronting the male carer.

“The men attempted to open doors and look around the home and as they went to enter the bedroom of the vulnerable and disabled person, the carer placed himself between the men and the bedroom door,” WA Police said in a statement.

“The men stole the carer’s phone so he could not call police, before they fled on foot.”

The men are described as being fair skinned, medium/large builds, approximately 172cms to 183cms tall, both had short dark hair, one had facial hair and the other a ‘French’ moustache.  It is believed the men are locals, Police said.

“As part of the investigation, detectives are investigating whether recent comments on a local social media group, which incorrectly identified the residence as being for former prisoners, may be linked to the incident.”

“Armadale Detectives would like to speak to anyone who was in the area around the time of the incident who may have seen the two men.”

Anyone with any information relating to this incident, is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or via www.crimestopperswa.com.au.
