Pedestrian, 72, critical after hit by car

A 72-year-old man is in a critical condition after being struck by a vehicle in Sydney’s west yesterday. 

Police say that at around 9.40pm last night, emergency services were called to Louis Street near Blaxcell Street, Granville, after reports a male pedestrian had been struck by a vehicle. 

The 72-year-old man was treated at the scene before being taken to Westmead Hospital in a critical condition, with head and leg injuries. 

“The 58-year-old female driver of the vehicle was uninjured and taken to Westmead Hospital for mandatory testing,” NSW Police said in a statement. 

“Officers from Cumberland Police Area Command have commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash.”
