Police Dog, Turbo, who was stabbed during the arrest of a man last night is out of surgery and on the road to recovery.
PD Turbo received two stab wounds – a shoulder wound and punctured lung in the attack. His handler was also wounded before the alleged offender was tasered by police.
“PD Turbo is a 20-month-old general purpose police dog assigned to the Darling Downs District and was transported to a veterinary surgery where he was operated on,” Queensland Police said in a statement.
“We are pleased to report, PD Turbo is out of surgery and is recovering nicely. He is already up and about, bouncing round.
“PD Turbo is now back with his relieved handler. All support is being given to his handler at this time.
“The Dog Squad and the Queensland Police Service would like to thank the community for their ongoing support.”
