Murray River search for missing couple

A large-scale search operation is underway for a missing man and woman near the border of NSW and Victoria.

About 8.45pm on Sunday, emergency services were called to Perricoota State Forest following reports that a man and woman had become lost while travelling along the Murray River.

Police were told the man and woman had set out about 12pm on Saturday in a small boat along the Murray River.

“The couple contacted a friend saying they had become lost somewhere in the Womboota area,” NSW Police said.

“Officers from Murray River Police District, together with PolAir, the Volunteer Rescue Association, State Emergency Service (SES) and NSW Forestry, have commenced a coordinated search of the area today.”

As inquiries to locate the pair continue, anyone with information about their whereabouts, is urged to contact police immediately.
