In its first week of operation, The Territory Check In app has been downloaded more than 30,000 times by Territorians.
The app was introduced at the start of the week, to add an extra layer of protection to the Territory as border restrictions ease across the country.
Since Monday 30 November more than:
– 31,700 users have downloaded the app
– 27,600 check-ins have been recorded across the NT
– 1,420 venues have implemented their unique QR code
Fifty-five percent of check-ins were completed using iOS, whilst 45 per cent were carried out using Android devices.
“While there was a 24-hour delay in having the app ready for Apple users due to the Thanksgiving holiday, the app has already proved simple and effective with the number of check-ins recorded,” a Government statement said.
The system has been designed so that users only need to provide their details once, before they are able to scan countless QR codes to enter participating premises across the Territory.
“Territorians are also able to check in friends and family that are with them who may not have their own smartphone device.”
The Territory Check In app provides a contactless, secure and easy way for customers and visitors to sign in to businesses with information stored directly by NT Health for 28 days before it is deleted.
“Information will only be accessed to assist with contact tracing if required.”
Venues that are already recording the required visitor information do not need to change their methods, or implement a new system. The Territory Check In app is not compulsory for businesses.
The Territory Check In app is available to download from the Apple App Store and Google Play Store, and is free to use.
