Man’s body found in Sydney unit

Police are investigating following the discovery of the body of a man aged in his 70s in Sydney’s east.

“About 11.20am today, emergency services were called to a unit on Elphinstone Road, South Coogee, following concerns for the welfare of a male occupant,” NSW Police said in a statement.

“Officers from Eastern Beaches Police Area Command attended and found the body of a man, who has not been formally identified, but believed to be aged in his 70s.”

A crime scene has been established which will be examined by forensic officers.

“Local detectives, assisted by the State Crime Command’s Homicide Squad, are investigating the circumstances surrounding the man’s death, which is being treated as suspicious,” NSW Police said.

A post mortem examination will be conducted to determine the cause of death. Police say no further information is available at this time.
