A 52-year-old man has suffered a fractured skull after being viciously attacked during a daytime home invasion at Parramatta.
Police say that at around 5pm yesterday, three men were sitting in the loungeroom of the Rosehill Street home when two men – armed with a hammer and a meat cleaver – entered through an unlocked rear door.
The men approached a 52-year-old man and demanded money before striking him to the back of the head with the hammer.
A second man, aged 19, was also hit in the arm with the hammer.
The pair ransacked the house before fleeing the home with mobile phones and were last seen running towards Alma Street where they entered a silver Holden Commodore.
The older man was taken to Westmead Hospital and underwent surgery for a fractured skull.
Police from Parramatta Police Area Command attended and established a crime scene which was forensically examined.
Inquiries are continuing as police search for two men.
The first man is described as being of Aboriginal/ Torres Strait Islander appearance, aged in his early 20s with a medium build. He was wearing a grey hooded jumper and long black pants.
The second man is described as being of Aboriginal/ Torres Strait Islander appearance, aged in his early 30s with a slim build. He was also wearing a grey hooded jumper and long black pants.
