A man in his 60s has died, and a woman in her 80s is in a critical condition following a house fire in Sydney’s west this morning.
Police say that just after 5am today, emergency services were called to Eltham Street, Blacktown, after reports of a house on fire.
A man and woman were pulled from the home by Fire and Rescue NSW. The man was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics, however died at the scene, NSW Police said in a statement.

“He is yet to be formally identified but is believed to be aged in his 60s,” Police said.
“The woman, aged in her 80s, has been taken to Westmead Hospital in a critical condition.
“The fire was extinguished by Fire and Rescue NSW, and a crime scene was established by officers from Blacktown Police Area Command.”
An investigation into the circumstances surrounding the fire is underway and anyone with information is urged to contact police.
