Man charged over unprovoked attack on pensioner

A 36-year-old man has been charged with assault after a 72-year-old pedestrian was shoved from behind into the wall of a building.

Midland Detectives say the vicim had been walking along The Avenue when the attack happened.

It will be alleged by police that the 36-year-old man approached the victim from behind and pushed him into the metal and glass wall and window of an office building.

Police say the victim struck his head and body on a metal railing and fell to the ground. It will be further alleged the 36-year-old man walked away from the victim without providing any assistance.

A member of the public located the injured man and he was taken to hospital by St John Ambulance.

The 36-year-old man of no fixed address has been charged with Aggravated Grievous Bodily Harm and was refused bail.
