A man will appear in court today, charged over the vicious alleged assault of a 62-year-old man with a sledgehammer on the NSW Central Coast yesterday.
Police say that at around 6.20pm on Thursday, a man approached his neighbour on Huene Avenue in Halekulani and hit him multiple times in the head with a sledgehammer.
“The neighbour, a 62-year-old man, sustained serious injuries and was taken to John Hunter Hospital in a critical but stable condition, where he will undergo surgery,” NSW Police said in a statement.
“Officers attached to Tuggerah Lakes Police District attended and arrested a 45-year-old man nearby.
“He was taken to Wyong Police Station where he was charged with cause grievous bodily harm to person with intent and contravene prohibition/restriction in AVO (Personal).”
He was refused bail to appear in Wyong Local Court today.
