Man charged over Pialba pub assault

A man has been charged following investigations into the alleged assault of a 50-year-old Dundowran Beach man at a Pialba tavern on Sunday.

Police say a disturbance broke out in the car park of the Boat Harbour Drive business at 10.30, where it will be alleged the 50-year-old man was kicked in the head by another man, causing him to fall and hit his head on the pavement.

“The 50-year-old was transported to the Hervey Bay Hospital, then flown to the Royal Brisbane Hospital for treatment, where he remains in a critical condition,” Queensland Police said in a statement this afternoon.

“Police established a crime scene and investigations established the location of a 26-year-old Emerald man who was taken into custody in Pialba yesterday.”

The 26-year-old has been charged with grievous bodily harm and is due to appear in the Hervey Bay Magistrates Court later today.
