Queensland Police have charged a 43-year-old Tooloola man over a vicious alleged assault on a 64-year-old man, who suffered facial injuries and lost several teeth as a result of the incident in a Gladstone shopping centre yesterday.
Police say the older Clinton man had a verbal argument with the 43-year-old regarding his manner of driving in a carpark located on the corner of Dawson Highway and Phillip Street.
“The 64-year-old man walked away from the argument and into the shopping centre,” Police said in a statement.
“A short time later, the 64-year-old was standing at a shop counter when the man approached him from behind and allegedly struck him to the side of the head several times.
“The pair fell to the ground and the 43-year-old allegedly pinned the man to the ground and continued punching him in the head.”
The Clinton man was transported to Gladstone Hospital suffering facial injuries, including the loss of several teeth.
The Tooloola man was charged with one count of grievous bodily harm, he is being held in custody to appear in the Gladstone Magistrates Court on April 26.
