A 69-year-old Cranbrook man has been charged with failing to report his partner’s death after her body was found buried on the man’s rural property this week.
Police officers from Bellerive CIB and Forensic Services attended the property on Tuesday and Wednesday this week, where a grave containing the body of a female was located.
Police allege the man buried his partner’s body on the property after she died in August. Police also allege he failed to report the death to authorities as required.
“The man was interviewed and charged with one count of failing to report a death, and one count of mishandling human remains,” Tasmania Police said in a statement.
He will appear in the Hobart Magistrates Court on March 10 next year.
Police say their investigations into the matter are continuing.
