Man charged over Blue Mountains home invasion

A man will face court today charged over an alleged daytime home invasion in the Blue Mountains in which a 55-year-old woman and her two sons were threatened with a knife.

Police say that at around 11.30am yesterday, the woman was in her home on Hawkesbury Road, Winmalee, when she was confronted by a man who threatened her with a knife.

“It will be further alleged that the man commenced to ransack the home where a struggle ensured between the man and the woman,” NSW Police said in a statement.

“The woman’s adult sons – aged 24 and 19 – went to her aid and the man fled the scene.

“Police were contacted and officers from Blue Mountain Police Area Command attended and established a crime scene.

“Officers conducted an extensive search of the area where a 26-year-old man was arrested at 2pm on George Street, Springwood.”

He was taken to Springwood Police Station and charged with aggravated break and enter and commit serious indictable offence – people there. The Kingswood man was refused bail to appear at Penrith Local Court today.
