A man has been charged after two Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) paramedics and a police officer were assaulted in Molendinar yesterday.
Police say the ambulance crew was called to an address in Molendinar just before 3pm on Sunday and arrived to find the patient “acting erratic and aggressive”.
“The man allegedly pushed the male paramedic and grabbed the other female paramedic in an inappropriate manner, before exposing himself,” Queensland Police said in a statement.
“He was also allegedly verbally abusive.
“Police were called and when officers arrived a short time later, the man then allegedly kicked the male officer in the chest before spitting on him.”
A 38-year-old Arundel man has been charged with three counts of serious assault of a public officer performing function, and one count each of sexual assault, indecent act in a public place, and serious assault police officer by spitting.
He is expected to appear before the Southport Magistrates Court today.
Superintendent Peter Miles said this kind of behaviour towards public officers who are trying to do their job, will not be tolerated.
“Our emergency crews deserve to go to work every day and not be fearful that they could be attacked or mistreated.”
“That kind of behaviour is not acceptable in front of anyone, let alone someone whose job it is to help,” Superintendent Miles said.
