A 32-year-old Gold Coast man has been charged over the alleged serious assault of a 60-year-old man in Mackay overnight.
Police say that at 1.45am this morning, emergency services were called to a Macalister Street address following reports of a physical disturbance.
“On arrival, a 60-year-old man was located with serious head wounds. He was transported to the Mackay Base Hospital where he remains in a critical condition,” Queensland Police said in a statement.
“The two men were staying in the same accommodation and were known to each other.”
The man has been charged with one count of acts intended to cause grievous bodily harm.
The man is due to appear in Mackay Magistrates Court today.
