A 50-year-old man has been bashed with a baseball bat in his Cromer home on Sydney’s northern beaches in a shocking overnight attack.
Police say that at around 8.30pm last night, a man armed with a baseball bat entered the Toronto Avenue home through an unlocked front door.
“The man approached the 50-year-old male resident and began hitting him with the bat before fleeing the house,” NSW Police said in a statement.
“Emergency service attended and the injured man was treated at the scene before he was taken to Royal North Shore Hospital suffering head and arm injuries. He remains in a stable condition.
“Officers from Northern Beaches Police Area Command secured a crime scene and commenced a search with the assistance of the Dog Unit and PolAir.”
Police say a bat was located in a nearby creek and has been seized for forensic examination.
Investigations into the incident are continuing.
