Man, 83, charged over alleged park sex assaults

Detectives from Ipswich and Acacia Ridge have charged an 83-year-old man over a string of alleged sexual assaults in the Acacia Ridge and Springfield areas.

Police say the alleged incidents occurred between September and October this year.

“It will be alleged that the male approached multiple women in public parks before assaulting them,” Queensland Police said in a statement.

“The 83-year-old Springfield Lakes man was charged with three counts of sexual assault and one count of rape.”

He was refused police bail and is due to appear in Ipswich Magistrates Court today.

Police are appealing for anyone with information regarding the incidents to come forward.
