A 73-year-old man will face court today charged with murder after the body of his 71-year-old partner was found at the couple’s Blue Mountains home this week.
Police say that at around 9am on Tuesday, officers were called to a home on Station Street, Katoomba, following reports of a concern for welfare.
“Officers from Blue Mountains Police Area Command attended and upon entering the home, found a 73-year-old man injured. He was unresponsive and treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics,” NSW Police said in a statement today.
“The body of a 71-year-old woman, known to the man, was found in a bedroom. She is yet to be formally identified.
“The man was taken to Katoomba Hospital, under police guard.”
After being discharged from hospital yesterday, the 73-year-old man was taken to Katoomba Police Station and charged with murder.
He has been refused bail to appear at Penrith Local Court today.
