Man, 72, charged with four counts of rape

A 72-year-old man has been arrested following an investigation into sexual assaults in Adelaide’s northern suburbs.

Police will allege that during the past six months, the northern suburbs man sexually assaulted a woman known to him, while he was providing gardening services at her home.

Detectives from the Northern District Criminal Investigation Branch have charged him with four counts of rape and two counts of indecent assault.

“He was refused police bail and appeared in the Elizabeth Magistrates Court on Monday 4 July where he was remanded in custody,” SA Police said today.

“He was later granted home detention bail to appear in the Elizabeth Magistrates Court on 24 October.”
