A 62-year-old man will appear in court today charged after a fire destroyed bushland in the state’s south overnight.
In a statement, NSW Police said that at around 9.30pm yesterday, emergency services were called to Padman Park off Padman Drive, Albury, after reports of a grass fire.
The fire (pictured) spread through bushland towards nearby houses and Fire and Rescue NSW attended and extinguished the blaze with no damage to properties, NSW Police said.
Officers attached to Murray River Police District attended and established a crime scene.
Following inquiries, a 62-year-old man was arrested and taken to Albury Police Station where he was charged with intentionally cause fire and be reckless as to its spread.
He was refused bail to appear at Albury Local Court today.
