Man, 61, arranged to meet boy in park

Armadale Detectives have charged a 61-year-old man who they allege was seeking a sexual encounter with a teenage boy online.

Police say that another man aged in his 20s created a fake profile on an online dating site where he purported to be a 14-year-old boy.

It is alleged he was approached online by a 61-year-old man. After exchanging sexually explicit messages, the pair arranged to meet at a public park in Kelmscott last Thursday. 

Police were advised of the meeting arrangements and swooped on the 61-year-old when he arrived to meet the person he believed was a 14-year-old boy.

The 61-year-old man from Camillo was charged with ‘Intent to Procure a Person believed to be under 16 years for Sexual Activity.

He is next due to appear before the Armadale Magistrates Court on November 3.
