Man, 52, facing child sex charge

A 52-year-old Sydney man has been charged with attempting to procure a boy for sex earlier this month.

Police say that on October 1, a man approached a 14-year-old boy in Eastwood and allegedly showed him messages of sexually explicit acts he wished to engage in with the child.

Police were alerted and officers from Ryde Police Area Command commenced an investigation.

Following inquiries, detectives executed a search warrant at a home in Telopea about 10am. Officers seized a number of items, including the man’s mobile phone.

The 52-year-old man was arrested at his home and taken to Ryde Police Station where he was charged with procure child for unlawful sexual activity.

He was bail refused to appear at Burwood Local Court today.
