Police have charged a 52-year-old Silkstone man with five counts of serious assault of an ambulance officer after an incident in Ellen Grove yesterday afternoon.
The man was being treated by paramedics on Waterford Road around 2pm when he allegedly became aggressive and threatened to shoot the officers.
It will be further alleged the man returned to his car parked nearby and retrieved a weapon, causing the paramedics to withdraw to safety.
Police attended and took the man into custody without further incident. A search of the man’s car located a loaded speargun.
He was transported to the Richlands Watchhouse where he was denied police bail to appear in the Richlands Magistrates Court this morning.
