Lockridge seniors celebrate new look Alice Davoren Centre

It’s been a special day in Lockridge with the opening of the newly refurbished Alice Davoren Centre, hosted by the Lockridge Senior Citizens Association.

City of Swan Mayor, David Lucas and Federal Member for Cowan, Dr Anne Aly MP joined Lockridge Senior Citizens Association members for a special morning tea to celebrate the project’s completion.

“The Alice Davoren Senior Citizens Centre has been an integral part of our community since it opened in 1985 by the Honourable Lyla Elliott MLC,” said Mayor Lucas.

“Over the past 37 years, local residents, groups – such as the Lockridge Seniors Citizens Association – and the wider community have used this centre for many types of functions, activities and meetings.

“The refurbishment works – which included modifications to the entry, new and refurbished toilet facilities, offices, first aid room and work rooms including a revamped hairdressing salon – will ensure this centre is accessible to the current and future needs of all members in our community,” he said.

The now bright and secure building will offer local residents and the wider community a place to socialise and build long-lasting connections, the Mayor said.

This project was funded by the City of Swan and a grant through the Federal Government’s Local Roads and Community Infrastructure Program.
