The body of a 78-year-old woman was located in a home in Gordon early this morning.
Police were called to the Gordon home to check on the welfare of the woman at about 7.25am this morning.
“Upon arrival, officers located the 78-year-old woman inside the home and she was formally declared deceased by ACT Ambulance Service paramedics,” ACT Police said in a statement.
A short time later, the woman’s 86-year-old husband was arrested at a Fadden residence. He was transported to the Canberra Hospital for assessment.
“At this time no charges have been laid. A crime scene has been established at the Gordon home and AFP Forensics officers have begun processing the scene,” Police said.
