Going to the chapel, COVID-style

An aged care resident in the NSW Hunter Valley has had a very special occasion brought to her doorstep, after COVID restrictions prevented her from attending her granddaughter’s wedding.

“One of our residents at Regis Elermore Vale was unable to attend her granddaughters wedding last week, so our team took it upon themselves to bring the wedding to her!” the aged care facility said in a statement.

Staff at Regis Elermore Vale transformed the facility’s cinema into a beautiful reception area and the wedding was live streamed via Zoom so that the much-loved grandmother could be part of her granddaughter’s special day.

“Days like these are precious and we’re proud to bring these moments of joy to our residents,” the facility said.

Guests dined on high-tea style treats and sparkling wine as they watched the beautiful proceedings on the cinema’s big screen.

Regis Elermore Vale is a 120-bed aged care facility offering ageing-in-place in single rooms with en suites including a 31 bed wing specialising in dementia care.
