Go back in time with local history calendar

Travel back in time and discover interesting facts about Penrith’s history with the city library’s 2022 Local History Calendar. Calendars are now available at all three Library branches for $5.

The Library’s Research Services team has mined the archives of their extensive photographic collection and pulled together another great historical calendar for history lovers.

The 2022 calendar focuses on the ‘before’ and ‘after’ of some of Penrith’s well-loved locations, buildings and businesses that have played and, in some cases, still play a pivotal role in local society.

Penrith City Council’s General Manager, Warwick Winn commended the Library on another great calendar history lovers will enjoy.

“The Library’s Research Services team has once again outdone themselves with the Local History Calendar.”

“You’ll see familiar buildings such as James Hope’s General Store, The Towers, Penrith railway and locations such as Mulgoa Road and Kingswood,” Mr Winn said.

“The calendar is a great platform for Penrith City Library to showcase their wonderful photographic collection which includes photographs donated by residents over the years.”

The photographs included in the calendar are from the Library’s Photographic Collection, which is accessible via Penrith Library’s Catalogue in the Local Archives Search at library.penrith.city
