Former teacher, 66, charged with historic sex assault of student

A 66-year-old man has been extradited from Queensland and charged after an alleged historical sexual assault of a student in the state’s North Coast.

In March 2021, officers from Richmond Police District commenced an investigation into reports a female student was allegedly sexually assaulted between the ages of 13 to 16, by a teacher between 1981 and 1983.

Following extensive investigations, detectives from Queensland Police (QPOL), arrested the man, believed to be a former teacher, at a home in Morayfield, Queensland.

The man was escorted back to NSW and charged with 11 counts of sexual assault (Category 3) – person under 16 years of age and carnal knowledge teacher of girl aged more than 10 and less than 17 years.

He is due to appear at Lismore Local Court today.
