Fatal crash at Mourilyan Harbour

A 63-year-old South Johnstone truck driver was lucky to escape uninjured from a fatal collision at Mourilyan Harbour yesterday.

Police say that at around 6.20am, a white Toyota Hilux travelling east on Mourilyan Harbour Road collided with a truck travelling west.

An 18-year-old Innisfail man driving the Toyota Hilux died at the scene as a result of the crash.

The truck driver, a 63-year-old man from South Johnstone, was not physically injured.

Mourilyan Harbour Road was closed for several hours.

The police Forensic Crash Unit are continuing to investigate the cause of the collision.
