Construction call for new Beaconsfield Ambulance station

The construction of a new ambulance station at Beaconsfield is a step closer to being realised with a Request for Tender being released for the project, Tasmanian Minister for Health, Jeremy Rockliff announced today.

“We recognise that demand for emergency ambulance responses has been steadily increasing over the past few years which is why our Government remains committed to boosting health services in our rural and regional communities, including in the State’s North-East,” said Minister Rockliff.

“With an investment of $1.5 million, the new Ambulance Station will provide more space, which will enable more training opportunities, while providing improved disability access, garaging facilities, and the provision of suitable crew room facilities.”

The new station will replace the existing site, which Ambulance Tasmania currently shares with the local hospital.

Importantly, the new infrastructure will also improve the service’s response, training facilities for volunteers, and the general amenity of all users, the Minister said.

The new station will accommodate users to a high standard, including improvements in security, infection control, and the management of ambulance vehicles, he said.

Tenders for the construction of the new Beaconsfield Ambulance Station close at 2pm on 11 May, 2022.
