Celebrating a decade of paw-sitivity

Eighty-five-year-old Lorna McDonough-Brown and her Pyreanean Mountain Dog, Aragorn, have been paw-raising for Kids with Cancer Foundation together since 2014, starting when he was just a pup.

The dynamic duo has raised over $1,700 for Kids with Cancer Foundation through pats and paw-someness.

With Aragorn now 10 years old, and Lorna, 85, the team have put up their paws after almost a decade of charity work to help support the near 800 children diagnosed with cancer in Australia each year – one pat at a time.

For nearly a decade, the pair have been regular fundraisers along the NSW mid-coast, at bustling markets, local businesses and just strolling the streets.

Aragorn’s fluffy fur and soulful eyes capture the attention of kind souls passing by, and as a registered fundraiser for Kids with Cancer Foundation, every pat comes with the opportunity to contribute to few dollars to help support kids with cancer and their families through donating to a charity that provides direct financial assistance, Care Packs, Wigs 4 Kids, funds children’s hospitals and oncology clinicians and more.

Lorna and Aragorn hard at work to raise much-needed funds.

But while Aragorn has put up his paws, this four-legged champion-fundraiser and his owner Lorna know that others will rise in their place to continue the important work of fundraising for Kids with Cancer Foundation.

Lorna and Aragorn attended their last market in late August in Forster.

For 25-years, Kids with Cancer Foundation has been making today easier for kids with cancer and their families through providing direct financial support to families, Care Packs, Wigs4Kids, plus funding critical hospital salaries and infrastructure, cancer research and more – having provided over $30 million in funding nationwide through its programs.
