Canberra Raiders mourn passing of former player and coach

The Canberra Region Rugby League has acknowledged the passing of former New Zealand International (#440), and local Canberra player and coach, Roger Bruce Tait.

Roger was a New Zealand junior who played for Huntley United, Glenora Bears and Papakura Sea Eagles. He also played 11 Tests for New Zealand from 1965 to 1968.

After moving to Australia, he played in Canberra as a Captain Coach and player for the Valley Statesman, Woden Valley Rams and Queanbeyan Kangaroos. Roger was a Fullback, Centre or Five-Eighth.

Roger sadly passed away after a short illness on Saturday 6 May.

“Our condolences go out to Luke, Sal and the Tait family,” Canberra Region Rugby League said in a statement today.
