Bushwalker rescued after fall

Police and the Westpac Rescue Helicopter Tasmania have rescued a 58-year-old Hobart bushwalker after he activated a personal locator beacon (PLB) in the state’s far south-west yesterday afternoon.

Police say the man had injured his leg in a fall and was forced to activate his PLB.

“Tasmania Police was notified of the activation about 4pm,” Police said in a statement.

The Westpac Rescue Helicopter was dispatched to the scene, with the bushwalker being airlifted to the Royal Hobart Hospital for treatment.
