Two brave police officers came to the rescue of a pet shop full of puppies in Nerang last night, after a fire broke out inside a neighbouring business.
In what was a harrowing rescue attempt caught on an officer’s body camera, the pair braved the blaze to rescue more than a dozen pups.
“Around 6pm a fire broke out in a motorcycle business at Lawrence Drive at Nerang which bordered a pet store with puppies inside for sale,” Queensland Police said in a statement.
“Police entered to rescue the puppies as the fire spread. All puppies were able to be saved.”
In the footage released by QPS, the officers, and some caring local residents, can be seen rushing to save the puppies, before loading them gently into carrier crates.
Police say substantial damage was caused to the businesses as a result of the fire.
