Appeal for help to find stolen water police boat

Sydney Water Police are appealing for information after a rare $400,000 Rigid-Hull Inflatable Boat (RHIB) was stolen earlier this month.

About 9pm on Sunday, May 9, two unknown men untied the Ribco Seafarer 36 and towed it to a nearby boat ramp at Rose Bay Marina, where it was loaded onto a trailer attached to a dual cab utility.

“The vehicle (pictured) is described as a white Volkswagen Amarok, with an aluminium tray and black roof racks. It was last seen travelling north on New South Head Road, Rose Bay,” NSW Police said in a statement today.

“The RHIB, which belongs to a charter company, is 36-feet long, with a black hull, white interiors and registration AIS241N.

“Police understand there are only a few of its kind in Australia.”

As police continue to investigate the theft, they’re appealing for anyone with information to contact the Marine Area Command on (02) 9320 7499 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
