Body of missing judge found in bushland

Brisbane Police have located the body of Federal Court Judge, Guy Andrew, ending a five day search for the missing 55-year-old.

Family Court Chief Justice, William Alstergren issued a statement last night confirming the discovery.

“His tragic passing is a timely reminder of the extraordinary pressure on all who practice in the often highly emotive family law jurisdiction,” he said.

Judge Andrew was last seen on October 4 when he left his home during the early hours. His car was located on Dillon Road at The Gap around 2pm the same day.

Justice Alstergren said Judge Andrew was “loved and admired” by many who knew him.

“The esteem in which he was held was evident by the large number of judges, barristers, solicitors, associates and other court staff who took an active part in the search for him,” he said.

Judge Andrew’s body was found in bushland near Enoggera Reservoir.

“Police wish to thank everyone involved in the search including Australian Defence Force, State Emergency Services, Walkabout Creek Discovery Centre and the community,” Queensland Police said in a statement.
