The Australian Government has invited Lives Lived Well to develop a business case to establish a Veterans’ and Families’ Hub in Northern Adelaide.
Lives Lived Well will join with the Legacy Club of Adelaide to take these next steps, with the support of a $50,000 grant to develop the business case to establish this new Hub.
“With this grant, Lives Lived Well will be able to undertake further consultation with key local veteran, family and service provider stakeholders, allowing them to identify local service needs and opportunities and maximise benefits for veterans and families across the region,” said Minister for Veterans’ Affairs, Matt Keogh.
“We don’t want to take a cookie cutter approach with Hubs around the country. The opportunity for enhanced stakeholder consultation enables Hub services to be designed so they best meet the needs of the local veteran community and can be maintained and sustained for many years to come.”
He said the expansion of the Veterans’ and Families’ Hub network will see the more than 10,950 veterans and their families in Adelaide’s northern suburbs access improved specialist services close to home.
The Hub is set to feature a range of tailored services to assist with transition, employment, social connection and advocacy services, along with mental and physical health support for veterans’ and families.
The intention is this Hub will not only be able to provide the services and supports the local veteran community needs, but be sustainable into the future.
The expansion of the Veterans’ and Families’ Hubs network into Northern Adelaide is part of the Government’s $46.7 million promise to deliver eight new Veterans’ and Families’ Hubs across the country.
“Our community has one of the highest concentrations of Veterans in Australia,” said Member for Spence, Matt Burnell.
“We have a super-base in our community, the RAAF Base Edinburgh, and I have made it clear that we need to offer significant assistance to those transitioning out of fatigues and into regular employment and day to day life.
“After running multiple round tables with the veteran community, I am excited to see significant progress, with Lives Lived Well invited to develop a business case for our new Hub,” he said.
