A body, believed to be that of a missing 88-year-old woman, has been located on the Far North Coast.
Police say the elderly woman was last seen at her home on Camden Street, Ballina, about 4pm on Monday.
“She was reported missing to officers from Richmond Police District, who commenced inquiries into her whereabouts,” NSW Police said.
“Following extensive land and air searches of the surrounding area, the body of a woman was located in North Creek River, Ballina.”
While the body is yet to be formally identified, it is believed to be that of the missing woman, police said.
The death is not being treated as suspicious and a report will be prepared for the information of the Coroner.
