An 87-year-old woman has died following a single vehicle crash in Wallu yesterday afternoon.
Police are investigating investigating the cause of the crash that occurred at around 1.55pm on Tin Can Bay Road.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the elderly woman was a passenger in a hatchback vehicle that was travelling south on Tin Can Bay Road when the driver lost control, leaving the roadway and impacting several trees before coming to a stop.
Police and emergency services attended the scene and transported the female passenger of the vehicle to hospital.
Sadly, the 87-year-old The Dawn resident passed away in hospital a short time later.
The 39-year-old male driver of the vehicle was treated for minor injuries.
Forensic Crash Unit investigations are continuing.
