75-year-old to face child sex charges

A man will face court today following further investigations by Child Abuse and Sex Crimes Squad detectives into historical child sexual abuse on Sydney’s North Shore.

In January 2018, detectives from the Child Abuse and Sex Crimes Squad formed Strike Force Moronga to investigate reports a teenage boy had been sexually abused by a man known to him in the 1970s.

As part of investigations, strike force detectives charged a 74-year-old man in May 2019. He remains before the courts.

Following further inquiries, the now 75-year-old man was arrested at a home at Chatswood about 9.20am yesterday.

He was taken to Chatswood Police Station, where he was charged with two counts of indecent assault on male and two counts of indecent act with male.

Police will allege in court that the man sexually abused a boy, who was aged between 11 to 14, on numerous occasions and locations across Chatswood between 1976 and 1979.

The man was refused bail to appear at Hornsby Local Court today.

Investigations under Strike Force Moronga are continuing.
