A 73-year-old man was struck by a car in Gatton, southern Queensland, last night.
Preliminary police investigations suggest the elderly man was crossing Old College Road when he was hit by a Toyota Corolla around 7.20pm.
Police say the man was airlifted to the Princess Alexandra Hospital with life threatening injuries.
The 66-year-old male driver of the sedan briefly left the scene to get help and later returned a negative drug and alcohol test.
