68-year-old rescued after car plunges 12m down embankment

A 68-year-old woman has been airlifted to hospital after a property owner discovered the injured woman in a car crashed down an embankment near Batemans Bay yesterday.

Police say that at around 12.30pm on Sunday, a Toyota Prius was travelling east on the Kings Highway at Currowan, about 25km north west of Batemans Bay, when it left the road and plunged 12m down an embankment.

“A property owner discovered the crash and alerted emergency services,” NSW Police said in a statement.

“The driver and sole occupant, a 68-year-old woman, was treated at the scene before being airlifted to Canberra Hospital with serious injuries.

“Officers from South Coast Police District attended and established a crime scene. An investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash is underway.”
