$2m facelift for Cobram aged care

The Victorian Government has unveiled a multi-million-dollar upgrade at NCN Health’s Irvin House in Cobram.

Victorian Minister for Disability, Ageing and Carers, Colin Brooks said the $2.1 million refurbishment had created seven new bedrooms and upgraded communal spaces for residents at Irvin House to enjoy.

“All Victorians deserve access to quality aged care close to home – and we’re ensuring communities on the Murray have exactly that,” said Minister Brooks.

The project saw seven double bedrooms converted into single bedrooms with private ensuites, and a new kitchenette and upgraded furniture and fixtures throughout the aged care facility.

The upgraded Irvin House also supports residents with complex care needs, including people living with dementia, with the project constructing a circular corridor to promote resident movement throughout the facility, the Minister said.

This investment was funded through the third and fourth rounds of the Regional Health Infrastructure Fund (RHIF).After a $300 million boost in the Victorian Budget 2022/23, the $790 million RHIF helps health services and agencies across regional Victoria deliver safe and efficient care for local communities – and has funded more than 480 projects since 2016.

Residents in the nearby Karinya Nursing Home in Numurkah are also enjoying refurbished facilities with a $340,000 bedroom upgrade. The project has converted one shared bedroom into two separate bedrooms with private ensuites and was funded through the Rural Residential Aged Care Facilities Renewal Program.

“With these upgrades in Cobram and Numurkah now complete, we’re supporting NCN Health serve local communities with additional rooms and facilities as a result of this multi-million-dollar funding,” said Member for Northern Victoria, Mark Gepp.
