200+ Seniors units planned for Wadalba site

The Hunter and Central Regional Planning Panel is assessing plans for a $61 million Seniors housing development proposed for an 11-hectare site in Wadalba on the Central Coast.

The proposal, submitted by Johns Road Pty Ltd, on land bordered by Johns Road and Murawal Road in Wadalba, includes plans for 202 residential units for Seniors.

The plan comprises 116 2-bedroom independent living units located within 58 two-level townhouse style buildings (pictured, artist impression), while 80 serviced apartments will feature in 10 two-level buildings, with four units on each floor.

The proposed facility also includes six single-level villas, community buildings, pool, gym, bar, bowling green and administration office.

In the proposal lodged, the developers state that the inclusion of self-care housing and serviced apartments in a single location meant seniors could transition through the stages of retirement living without the stress of having to move to a different geographical location.

It said the project would be built in seven stages and be registered and operated in accordance with the Retirement Villages Act 1999, with a full-time manager and medical and nursing staff on-site.
