A 13-year-old boy has been charged with the senseless assault of a 52-year-old woman in Melton earlier this week.
Police say the woman was walking along Unitt Street when she was allegedly approached by a male on a pushbike and assaulted about 2.50pm on Tuesday, 19 January.
The woman was helped by onlookers and later underwent surgery for her injuries.
“A 13-year-old boy has since been charged with recklessly cause serious injury,” Victoria Police said in a statement around 10.45pm last night.
He was bailed to appear at a children’s court at a later date.
