New supplement a boost for ageing brains

When Ross, a 72-year-old retired IT professional, started taking brain supplements, he couldn’t have imagined how the decision would affect his life.

After becoming weary about a familial history of Alzheimer’s, Ross began taking Yootropics Brain to help him lessen possible future memory degradation and other effects of the disease.

However, Ross also has a hobby.

“Gaming sort of fell into my lap when I started to enhance my IT skills back at IT School – nothing like being an old student, feeling the need to beat the juniors at something,” he says.

“All games are available on my PC, and I’m inclined to play anytime and sometimes for hours if I’m looking at a driving series win or need to complete my combat mission.”

Ross found that Yootropics Brain improved his gaming performance dramatically.

“I have a great love of motor sports, so when I’m able to sit at my desk and shoot or drive, it’s great fun – especially now my shooting accuracy and lap times are improving, making it even more fun,” he said.

Ross is just one of a growing number of seniors who are taking Yootropics products to help with memory loss, cognitive fatigue, and speed of recall.

Yootropics is an Australian-born company focused on developing nootropics – supplements that aim to improve cognitive function and protect the brain without negatively affecting mood.

Along with the universal Yootropics Brain, the company has also recently released two specialised products; Focus and Calm

Focus is useful when short bursts of sharpness and clarity are required, while Calm helps those who find it difficult to wind down.

Cognitive performance specialist Ryan Morgan said Brain is particularly applicable to seniors as it is well-rounded and can be taken long-term to improve brain health.

“The idea behind a nootropic is it really should be balanced,” Mr Morgan said.

“The different ingredients in Brain have been researched to show that they improve things like blood flow to the brain, memory, sustained concentration, and neuroprotection.”

Mr Morgan said that while Yootropics are recommended for healthy adults, people on other medication should always consult their doctor first.

“The ingredients used are aimed at boosting the healthy brain,” Mr Morgan said.

“Many of those ingredients have research trials. Some of them are small, but some are really robust and have shown marked benefits in older adults.

“I’ve received positive feedback from people with brain fog, from those with dementia, who have noticed improvements. I think that sort of thing is really promising.”
