Quarantine hotel cleaner tests positive

NSW Health Minister Brad Hazzard has confirmed a positive case of COVID-19 in a woman working at a quarantine hotel in Sydney.

Speaking on radio with host Ben Fordham, Mr Hazzard confirmed the woman from Minto had tested positive after working shifts at two Sydney hotels – one of them is a quarantine hotel.

It’s understood the woman is a cleaner, not a security guard as earlier reported. She worked at Sydney’s Ibis and Novotel hotels in late November.

Five family members of the woman have so far tested negative for coronavirus.

The Minister said all residents in Minto should watch for COVID-19 symptoms and get tested if they develop.

The new case breaks the state’s 25-day run of no locally transmitted cases of COVID-19.
