Police are appealing for public assistance after a vaccination worker was assaulted while working at a COVID-19 testing site in Sydney’s north-west earlier this week.
Police say that at around 4pm on Monday, a female staff member was performing duties at a COVID-19 testing site at Kissing Point Road, Dundas, when she was approached by a man who was not wearing a mask.
Police have been told the man began filming the 31-year-old worker on his mobile phone, before verbally abusing her about vaccinations.
“The man then allegedly dislodged the woman’s mask and punched her to the head. Several people awaiting testing exited their cars and assisted the woman,” NSW Police said in a statement.
“The man fled the scene on foot and officers from the Cumberland Police Area Command attended and commenced an investigation. The woman was treated at the scene and did not require hospitalisation.
“Investigators have now released images of a man they would like to speak to, who may be assist with their inquiries.”
The man depicted in the images is described as being of Mediterranean/Middle Eastern appearance, aged in his 30s, about 165cm tall with a medium build. He has black curly hair and two moles on his right cheek.
At the time of the incident the man was wearing blue jeans and a grey top with black sleeves.
